With the nomination process completed, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has intensified preparations for polling and vote counting. Voting for the civic body elections will be held on January 15, while counting of votes is scheduled for January 16 at ten locations across the city, one in each zone.
To brief political parties on election arrangements, a meeting of party representatives was held at the NMC headquarters under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner and Returning Officer Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari. During the meeting, parties were informed about key aspects of the polling and counting process.
Vote counting will be conducted zone-wise, and a total of 992 candidates are contesting the elections. The civic body has put in place detailed arrangements to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process.
NMC Deputy Commissioner (Elections) Nirbhay Jain, along with representatives of various political parties, was present at the meeting. Jain shared information regarding the distribution of polling materials, strong rooms and counting centres.
He added that, in line with State Election Commission guidelines, 3,004 polling stations have been set up across the city. Details of polling stations and information about contesting candidates are available on the NMC’s official website.
