Maharashtra State Educational Institutions Federation Submits Memorandum to School Education Minister
To curb malpractices during the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations scheduled for February–March 2026, the School Education Department has issued instructions to install CCTV systems at all examination centres. The Maharashtra State Educational Institutions Federation has strongly objected to this decision and has submitted a memorandum in this regard to School Education Minister Dada Bhuse.
The memorandum states that government offices already have complete information about which schools are equipped with CCTV systems. Therefore, schools lacking this facility should not have been granted approval as examination centres in the first place. Instead, by placing the entire responsibility directly on school managements, the government and concerned officials are attempting to absolve themselves of accountability, alleged Ravindra Fadnavis, Acting Secretary of the Federation.
It has been clearly pointed out that CCTV systems are extremely expensive, and imposing such a mandate without providing any separate financial assistance is unjust. If the installation of CCTV cameras is made compulsory, it is the responsibility of the government to provide the necessary funds. The memorandum further demands that if a school does not have CCTV facilities, its status as an examination centre should be cancelled and board examinations should not be conducted at such centres.
The Maharashtra State Educational Institutions Federation has urged the authorities to give immediate attention to the issue and take an appropriate decision.
