Nagpur: Under Operation Thunder, the NDPS squad of Nagpur Police took decisive action against the illegal sale of banned electronic cigarettes, seizing prohibited items worth ?38,500 from RK Traders in the Dharampeth area of the city. The operation was carried out within the limits of Sitabuldi Police Station, resulting in the arrest of one person.
The raid was conducted on January 13, 2026, between 7:30 pm and 9:10 pm, at RK Traders, a dry fruit shop located beside Ankur Wine Shop at Coffee House Square, Dharampeth, Nagpur. Police sources said they received specific information that banned e-cigarettes were being sold illegally from the shop.
During the search, the NDPS team recovered 22 web e-cigarettes, which are prohibited under Indian law. The total value of the seized contraband has been estimated at ?38,500. The seized items were documented through a panchnama on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Vrishabh Ramesh Lalwani (26), a resident of Sindhi Colony near the Post Office, Khamla, Rana Pratap Nagar, Nagpur.
A case has been registered under Sections 4, 5, 7, and 8 of the E-Cigarette Prohibition Act, along with provisions of the COTPA Act, 2019, at Sitabuldi Police Station. Further investigation is currently underway.
Police officials stated that strict enforcement drives like Operation Thunder will continue across Nagpur to curb the illegal sale of banned tobacco products and electronic smoking devices.
