Responding to allegations raised by the opposition over the quality of indelible ink used during polling, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday rubbished the claims, stating that there is no possibility of the ink being removed.
Addressing the media, Fadnavis demonstrated by rubbing the ink mark on his finger and said it cannot be erased under normal circumstances. “If at all such a thing is possible, the Election Commission should take cognisance of it. This is entirely a matter for the Election Commission,” he said.
Taking a lighter tone, the Chief Minister added humorously that if the opposition still has doubts, the Election Commission could even consider using oil paint instead of ink. He alleged that the opposition was deliberately raising “nonsensical issues”.
Fadnavis further accused the opposition of questioning every step of the voting process only to create confusion among voters and mistrust against national institutions. He appealed to citizens not to fall for such misleading narratives.
