Preparations for the SSC and HSC board examinations are underway, with the Nagpur Divisional Board designating 250 centres for the HSC exams and 175 centres for the SSC exams. The HSC examinations will begin on February 10, while the SSC exams are scheduled to start from February 20, 2026. The Board is continuously reviewing the centres to ensure smooth conduct of the exams.
Recently, a meeting of the District Vigilance Committee was held under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate, where instructions were issued to the Education, Police and Revenue departments regarding necessary arrangements. The Board has decided to adopt a strict approach to prevent cheating, mass copying and other irregularities during the examinations.
In the district, 29 examination centres have been identified as sensitive, including three in urban areas and 26 in rural regions. However, considering students’ convenience, the Board has opted for strict monitoring instead of cancelling their recognition. Although de-recognition was initially ordered, these centres have been given another chance. As per norms, the distance between a student’s school and examination centre should not exceed five kilometres.
To ensure vigilance, six flying squads will be deployed in each district. These squads will comprise education officers, deputy education officers and planning officers. In addition, separate teams from the District Magistrate’s office, Police Department and Revenue Department will remain on standby. Inspection teams of principals and DIET officials will also visit examination centres.
Meanwhile, Class 10 practical examinations have already commenced and will continue till February 18, 2026. While the exams began smoothly in many city schools, practical examinations could not be conducted on the first day in some municipal schools. As per rules, limited flexibility has been granted to schools for conducting Class 10 practical exams.
At the same time, ongoing road construction and frequent traffic jams are posing challenges for Class 12 students. The HSC examinations will begin on February 10 at 10.30 am, and parents have expressed concern that traffic congestion in the morning hours could delay students. For economically disadvantaged students, travelling up to 12 kilometres early in the morning is particularly difficult. With roadworks continuing across the city, there are fears that traffic issues may cause serious problems for students trying to reach examination centres on time.
