Nagpur ranks first in the state for rooftop solar installations; Amravati and Buldhana among the top ten.
A special, informative, and detailed session on the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana was organized today under the Advantage Vidarbha – Khasdar Audyogik Mahotsav, hosted by the Association for Industrial Development. Speaking at the session, Aditya Pratap Singh, Director at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, stated that priority will be given to promoting solarization not only of residential buildings but also of government buildings.He further noted that under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the installation of rooftop solar projects across the country has gained significant momentum, with Maharashtra emerging as a leading state in this sector. Through rooftop solar, clean and sustainable energy is becoming widely available for both private and residential use.Singh informed that Nagpur district ranks first in Maharashtra in rooftop solar installations, while Vidarbha districts Amravati and Buldhana are included among the state’s top ten districts. He acknowledged that the scheme did not initially progress at the expected pace, but the situation has now completely transformed. Currently, more than 6,500 rooftop solar projects are being installed daily across the country, which clearly reflects the success of the scheme.During the program, senior MSEDCL official Mr. Talewar, while guiding participants, emphasized that the role of registered vendors and service providers has been crucial to the success of the Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. He added that the entire process has been made digital and automated, and subsidy disbursement is being carried out swiftly and transparently. On the occasion, MSEDCL Executive Directors Mr. Prasad Reshme and Mr. Tagadpaliwar were felicitated. A large number of registered vendors under the Surya Ghar scheme, along with those interested in new registrations, were present at the event.It is noteworthy that the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana was launched on February 13, 2024, and currently offers loan facilities at an interest rate of 5.75 percent. The session also featured special discussions on the JanSamarth portal and new initiatives under the scheme.During the event, an audio-visual message from Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi was screened, in which he appealed to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach a maximum number of citizens, industries, and institutions.
