Students will no longer need to apply for verification of marks after the declaration of Class 12 board results, as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is introducing a fully digital evaluation system from this year.
CBSE officials said the board has shifted to On-Screen Marking (OSM), which will be implemented from 2026. A workshop was conducted on Friday for school principals and teachers to explain the new digital marking process.
However, the evaluation of Class 10 answer sheets will continue in the traditional physical mode.
Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said that post-result verification of marks will not be required under the new system, as digital evaluation will remove the possibility of totalling errors. In the earlier system, students often applied for verification to check for calculation mistakes or missing marks. The new digital process is expected to eliminate such discrepancies from the beginning.
CBSE conducts Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations every year in India and in 26 other countries, covering nearly 46 lakh students.
Officials said the digital marking system will improve coordination, reduce manual intervention and speed up the evaluation process. It is also environmentally friendly and will allow teachers to evaluate answer sheets online while continuing their regular school duties.
