‘Ashwamedh 26’, a multi-sport extravaganza hosted by Priyadarshini College of Engineering, commenced on Wednesday with great enthusiasm.
Over 1,500 engineering students are participating in the event, which will continue until March 8. The competition features a wide range of sports, including cricket, swimming, football, chess, and basketball.
Principal Dr. Shrikrishna Dhale inaugurated the event in a vibrant ceremony by lighting the ceremonial lamp and unveiling the ‘Ashwamedh 26 Champions Trophy’.
The inauguration was attended by Lokmanya Tilak Jankalyan Shikshan Sanstha President Dr. Satish Chaturvedi, Secretary Abha Chaturvedi, Principal of Jyotiba College Dr. Datarkar, Vice-Principal Dr. G.M. Asutkar, along with other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Dhale emphasized the importance of sports in fostering positive thinking among athletes. He noted that instilling positive energy is essential for athletes to achieve peak performance.
The programme featured colourful performances by students, including an impressive march past accompanied by the beats of Shivpratishtha Dhol Pathak.
Dean of Students Counselling Dr. Virendra Taksande delivered the introductory remarks. The event was compered by Dr. Vrushali Nasre, while Dr. Manoj Demade proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. Manoj Ambedkar and Prof. Aniruddha Kailuke played key roles in organising the function.
