Shraddha Bajaj put up a remarkable show on 64 squares to win Nagpur District Open Amateur Chess Selection Tournament organised by the Chess Association Nagpur in association with G.H. Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation, MKH Sancheti Group, and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation at M.K.H Sancheti Public School., Hindustan Colony, Opp. Sai Mandir, Wardha Road, Nagpur 0n 29th March 2026. Cash Prizes for the event were sponsored by G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation.
Shraddha with 7 ½ points out of Eight rounds emerged a clear winner. Mayank Santosh Hedau stood second with 7 points. Rushikesh Lohit, Swaraj Mishra, Yuval Sunil Mohurle and Shaura Ambone scored 6.5 points but were adjudged 3rd to 6th in the final ranking based on their tie break scores.

Adv Ashish Agrawal, a practising Advocate and A Six Star Marathon Finisher having completed all six major marathons at Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York was the Chief Guest of the Prize Distribution Function. Smt Nivedita Ashish Agrawal, Smt Sheetal Kathale, Vice Principal, MKH Sancheti College and Shri S.S.Soman, Member, MCA Observer Committee were seated on dias. FA Shyam Agrawal compered the program and proposed vote of thanks.
Shraddha Bajaj, Mayank Hedau, Rushikesh Lohit and Swaraj Mishra shall represent Nagpur District in the Maharashtra State Amateur Chess Championship 2026 to be held later this year.
Apart from Cash Prizes sponsored by G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation for Top 10 winners, medals were distributed to Best- Under 7, 9,11,13,15 and Veteran Players.
IA Shiva Iyer was the Chief Arbiter for the event who was assisted by SNA Prayas Ambade, SNA Shrikant Bagde and SNA Shyam Agrawal
