In a major step towards improving the quality of education in municipal schools, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to recruit English teachers and introduce semi-English classes from the upcoming 2026–27 academic session. The decision was taken during a meeting of the Education Special Committee chaired by Santoshdevi Deepak Lathha. The move aims to enhance learning outcomes and provide better academic exposure to students studying in civic-run schools.

The meeting, held at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Administrative Building, also focused on strengthening school infrastructure and student safety. Officials were directed to ensure the immediate installation and functioning of CCTV cameras and biometric systems across all schools to maintain discipline and security.
Several key measures were also approved during the meeting. The quality of uniforms, shoes, and socks provided to students will be strictly checked before procurement. Additionally, grammar books will be distributed to all students from Classes 5 to 12 to improve language proficiency. To boost student enrollment, teachers have been instructed to conduct a special registration drive, maintaining detailed records of parents along with their contact information.
