Hard-hitting all-rounder Bharti Fulmali from Vidarbha has been selected in the Indian women’s squad for the T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in England and Wales from June 12.
Fulmali has been a regular part of India’s T20 set-up in recent times. Last month, the 31-year-old featured in India’s tour of South Africa, where she scored a quick 42 off 30 balls in the fifth match of the series.Born in Amravati, Bharti began her cricket journey at a young age, representing Vidarbha Under-19 at just 13.
Daughter of Shrikrushna and Jyoti, she is a right-handed batter and right-arm medium-fast bowler, known as a powerful finisher in domestic and franchise cricket.She currently plays for Gujarat Giants in the Women’s Premier League, where her lower-order performances have been impressive.
The Indian team will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur, with Smriti Mandhana as vice-captain. Mandhana, Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues are expected to form the top order, while Bharti’s inclusion strengthens the middle and lower order alongside finishers like Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma.
