Vidarbha continued to reel under intense summer heat on Thursday, with several districts recording temperatures above the 43-degree mark. Akola emerged as the hottest city in the region at a scorching 45.9°C, closely followed by Wardha at 45.5°C and Amravati at 45.2°C. The relentless rise in mercury has once again highlighted the severity of the ongoing heatwave conditions across eastern Maharashtra.
Nagpur, the winter capital of Maharashtra, recorded a sweltering 44°C, while Yavatmal touched 43.6°C. Brahmapuri and Washim both registered 43.4°C, adding to the widespread heat stress across the region. Chandrapur reported 42.8°C, Gadchiroli 42°C, and Buldana 41.5°C, indicating that almost the entire Vidarbha belt remained trapped under extreme daytime temperatures.
Even districts that remained comparatively lower on the scale continued to experience uncomfortable weather conditions. Gondia recorded 41.2°C, while the soaring heat combined with dry conditions made outdoor movement difficult during peak afternoon hours. Residents across cities were seen avoiding unnecessary travel as roads and marketplaces wore a deserted look under the blazing sun.
Health experts have advised citizens to remain cautious amid the severe heat conditions. People are urged to stay hydrated, avoid direct exposure to sunlight during afternoon hours, wear light cotton clothing, and consume plenty of fluids. Special care should be taken for children, senior citizens, and outdoor workers, as prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures may lead to dehydration, exhaustion, or heatstroke.
