The strike by contractual workers employed with Anthony Waste Handling Cell Limited, the agency responsible for door-to-door garbage collection in Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Zones 1 to 5, has officially ended. Following the resolution of the workers’ agitation, all garbage collection vehicles resumed operations across the city from today.
The information was shared by Rajesh Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner of the Solid Waste Management Department, Nagpur Municipal Corporation. According to the civic administration, sanitation services are gradually returning to normal, and efforts are underway to clear the backlog of waste that accumulated during the strike period.
The disruption had affected waste collection in several parts of the city over the past few days, leading to inconvenience for residents and concerns over public health and cleanliness. With the strike now withdrawn, the NMC has appealed to citizens to cooperate with sanitation workers and support the restoration of regular waste management services.
Officials have assured that garbage collection vehicles are operating as per schedule and that the accumulated waste will be cleared on a priority basis to maintain cleanliness across Nagpur.
