A leakage has occurred on a 400 mm diameter Ductile Iron (DI) distribution pipeline near Gamdoor Bar under Ashi Nagar Zone.
The pipeline was damaged during road construction works being executed by a third-party road contractor currently undertaking cement road construction along Kamptee Road from Automotive Square to Indora Square. The distribution main feeder runs along this stretch of Kamptee Road.
This is the third instance of pipeline damage caused by earth-moving machinery at this construction stretch. Repeated impacts by the earth movers have progressively weakened the water infrastructure at this location, posing a serious risk to service continuity and the long-term integrity of the distribution network in the Indora-II Command Area.
Due to leakage, the morning water supply (8:00 AM-10:00 AM & 11:00 AM-1:30 PM) on 16 June, Tuesday, was affected in Habib Nagar, Devi Nagar, Baba Buddaji Nagar, Nai Basti, Siddharth Nagar, Ashi Nagar and Buddhaji Nagar Unit 1 & 2 areas of Indora-II CA.
If the repair work undertaken by the cement road contractor is not completed by this evening, there is a possibility that the morning water supply on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, may also be affected. Team OCW will initiate all the necessary efforts on priority to restore normal water supply at the earliest.
Another water pipeline leakage has been reported on a 160 mm dia HDPE distribution line near Rahagdale Hospital, Durga Nagar. The pipeline was damaged by a third-party contractor during sewerage work. As a result, the evening water supply on Tuesday, 16 June (5:30 PM – 8:00 PM) has been affected. Repair work is being undertaken to restore normal water supply at the earliest.
OCW appeals to all agencies undertaking excavation, road construction, cable laying and utility works to exercise utmost caution while working near existing water infrastructure. Citizens are requested to cooperate during such emergency situations arising due to accidental damage to utility infrastructure by third-party agencies.
For information regarding water supply, billing services or complaints, consumers may contact the OCW Helpline at 1800 266 9899 or use the Nagpur Jal Grahak Sewa App.
