The attack reportedly took place late on the night of June 22 near NIT Garden in the Srinagar locality.
According to local residents, the community dog, known for its calm nature and familiar presence in the neighbourhood, was resting inside the premises of a house when the accused allegedly entered the property and repeatedly attacked the animal with a wooden stick.
