In a major crackdown on illegal narcotics, Kalamna Police arrested a 55-year-old man after seizing nearly 2 kilograms of ganja from his residence during a targeted raid.
Acting on reliable intelligence, the police team raided a house at Plot No. 82, Om Nagar, near Aata Chakki in Kalamna on July 28, between 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM. During the search, conducted in the presence of witnesses, police discovered 1.94 kg of cannabis concealed in a bag beneath a cupboard. A digital weighing scale was also recovered from the premises.
The accused has been identified as Naresh alias Pappu Jagdishprasad Shrivastava (55), a resident of the same locality. According to police, he was allegedly in possession of the contraband with the intention of selling it for personal profit.
The seized material and equipment are estimated to be worth ?51,000. A case has been registered under Sections 8(c) and 20(b)(2)(B) of the NDPS Act, and the accused has been taken into custody.
Further investigation is underway to trace the source and possible distribution links.
