In a significant step towards environmental conservation and promoting sustainable mobility, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has initiated the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the city. Under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, charging stations will be set up at 11 prime locations in Nagpur.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held on Friday, August 9, at Rahate Chowk, where Additional Municipal Commissioner Vaishnavi B. formally inaugurated the initiative.
The event witnessed the presence of Executive Engineer Rajendra Rathod, Assistant Engineer Pramod Bhasme, Sachin Borekar from Reliance BP Infra Ltd., along with other NMC officials and staff. Acting under the directives of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari, the project is being fast-tracked for implementation.
Reliance BP Infra Ltd., Mumbai, has been entrusted with the task of executing the installation work.
For public convenience, EV charging stations will be installed at the following locations:
Jayatala Bazar Chowk (Orange Street)
Rahate Colony Chowk (near PKV area)
Dayanand Park
Police Motor Transport Department, Katol Road
Parking area near Patrakar Bhavan
Near Yashwant Stadium
Wadi Naka, Amravati Road
Near Futala Road Police Chowki
Budhwar Bazaar, near Sakkardara water tank
Shantinagar Main Road, near water tank
Behind Anjuman College
Tuesday Complex
Opposite Tuli Empire Hotel parking, Central Bazar Road
Once operational, these charging stations will provide a major relief and convenience for users of electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers across the city. This initiative is a vital step in transforming Nagpur into a smart and environmentally conscious city.
