With the arrival of Lord Ganesha being celebrated across the city today, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has put in place elaborate arrangements for eco-friendly idol immersion. From installation to immersion, various facilities have been made available for citizens, ensuring smooth and environment-friendly celebrations.
Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari, and Additional Commissioners Vasumana Pant, Vaishnavi B., and Ajay Charthankar, the Solid Waste Management Department has created 419 artificial ponds at 216 locations across Nagpur for Ganesh idol immersion. Special arrangements have also been made this year for immersion of large idols at Gorewada, Koradi, and Kachchivisa.
For 1.5-day immersions, 34 artificial ponds have been set up across 15 locations including Laxminagar (3), Dharampeth (7), Hanuman Nagar (2), and one each in Dhantoli, Nehru Nagar, and Satranjipura zones.
For 3-day immersions, 37 artificial ponds have been arranged at 18 locations including Laxminagar (3), Dharampeth (7), Hanuman Nagar (5), and one each in Dhantoli, Nehru Nagar, and Satranjipura zones.
For 5-day immersions, 66 artificial ponds have been prepared at 18 locations, with major facilities in Dharampeth (13), Hanuman Nagar (5), and others spread across Laxminagar, Dhantoli, Nehru Nagar, Satranjipura, and Ashi Nagar zones.
For 7-day immersions, 103 artificial ponds have been readied at 40 locations including Laxminagar (4), Dharampeth (24), Hanuman Nagar (8), Dhantoli (2), and one each in Nehru Nagar and Ashi Nagar zones.
For 9th, 10th, and 11th day immersions, a total of 419 ponds at 216 locations will be available. These include Laxminagar (20), Dharampeth (24), Hanuman Nagar (36), Dhantoli (19), Nehru Nagar (30), Gandhibagh (28), Satranjipura (16), Lakadganj (19), Ashi Nagar (12), Mangalwari (11), and Koradi (1).
Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari has appealed to citizens to celebrate Ganeshotsav in an eco-friendly manner and to use the designated artificial ponds for idol immersion.
