In a significant action under “Operation Thunder – Let’s Unite for a Drug-Free Society,” Lakadganj police arrested a man for allegedly selling ganja from an e-rickshaw in the city.
Based on specific intelligence, police conducted a late-night trap operation between 1.20 am and 4.15 am on January 3 near Amardeep Talkies. During the raid, an e-rickshaw bearing registration number MH-49 BM 9931 was intercepted, and its occupant was identified as Firoz Munna Khan (42), a resident of Vajpayee Nagar near Buddha Vihar, Kalamna.
Upon searching the vehicle, police recovered 1.851 kg of ganja concealed inside a school bag kept beneath the driver’s seat. A mobile phone and the e-rickshaw used for transporting the narcotics were also seized. The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 97,100.
The accused has been arrested and booked under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act at Lakadganj police station. Police said further investigation is underway to identify the source and distribution network.
