Nagpur is set to receive a major road infrastructure boost as the Public Works Department’s (PWD) National Highway Division undertakes a ₹25-crore project to connect Rahate Colony Square with RBI Square. The 2.6-km stretch will be developed into a modern road corridor aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
The project includes the construction of a concrete road along with a dedicated footpath and a separate cycling track, reflecting a shift towards organised and people-friendly urban road design. The stretch is crucial as it links residential neighbourhoods with key commercial and institutional areas and experiences heavy traffic throughout the day.
According to Sanjeev Jagtap, Executive Engineer, the corridor will terminate at RBI Square and will not loop back to Rahate Colony Square. He added that the alignment has been finalised to ensure smoother traffic movement between the two major junctions and to reduce bottlenecks along the route.
The work is being executed by the PWD’s National Highway Division and is expected to be completed by September 2026.
