Nagpur: In a move aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and modernising station amenities, Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has launched a Smart Digital Luggage Locker facility at Nagpur Railway Station.
The facility has been introduced under the Non-Fare Revenue (NFR) initiative and has been outsourced for a period of three years. It is designed to provide passengers with a secure, automated, and hassle-free luggage storage solution. The state-of-the-art digital lockers have been installed near the Upper Class Waiting Hall concourse.
Passengers can store their luggage independently using an OTP- and QR code-based system, eliminating the need for staff assistance. The entire process, including payment, is completely digital and cashless, ensuring transparency, speed, and ease of use.
Compared to conventional cloakroom services, the Smart Digital Locker system offers enhanced security, quicker service, and greater convenience. Approved user charges have been fixed based on locker size and duration. For medium-sized lockers, charges are Rs 55 for four hours, Rs 70 for six hours, and Rs 120 for 24 hours. Large lockers are priced at Rs 70 for four hours, Rs 100 for six hours, and Rs 150 for 24 hours. Extra-large lockers cost Rs 100 for four hours, Rs 150 for six hours, and Rs 250 for 24 hours. The approved rate chart will be prominently displayed at visible locations within the station for passenger information.
Following the rollout at Nagpur Railway Station, the auction process for introducing the Smart Digital Locker facility is also scheduled at Wardha, Chandrapur, and Ballarshah railway stations.
