Nagpur District Athletics Association (NDAA) will organise the District Senior Group Athletics Championship on May 21 and 22 at the synthetic track of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University.
The championship will serve as the selection trial for the district team that will participate in the State Senior Group Athletics Championship scheduled to be held in Pune from May 29.
Events to Be Conducted
The two-day meet will feature competitions in:
- 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m and 10,000m races
- 100m and 110m hurdles
- 400m hurdles
- 3000m steeplechase
- Long jump, triple jump, high jump and pole vault
- Shot put, discus throw, hammer throw and javelin throw
- 20km walk
- Decathlon and heptathlon
- 4x100m and 4x400m relays for men and women
- 4x100m and 4x400m mixed relays
Entry Details
Entries must be submitted by schools, colleges and clubs to [email protected] before May 18.
Bib numbers will be distributed on May 20 between 3 pm and 4 pm. A maximum of six participants from a school, college or club will be allowed in a single event.
Participants must produce either an identity card issued by the district association or a birth certificate issued by the Gram Panchayat, Municipality or Municipal Corporation along with a certified copy of their Aadhaar card during registration.
Selection and Organising Committees
A selection committee headed by Jitendra Ghordadekar has been formed to pick the district team for the state championship.
The committee includes:
- Rohini Raut
- Kamlesh Hinge
- Shamsher Khan
- Ramchandra Wani
All participants will receive online participation certificates, while the top three finishers in each event will be awarded medals.
Trophies and Awards
- The Lakhiram Malviya Memorial Cup will be awarded to the men’s team champion.
- The Chitra Pantavane Memorial Cup will be presented to the women’s team champion.
- The BB Ghate Memorial Cup will go to the overall winning team.
The best male athlete will receive the Ashok Sabne Cup, while the best female athlete will be honoured with the SJ Anthony Cup.
According to a press release issued by Sharad Suryawanshi, an organising committee has also been formed under the chairmanship of international coach Ravindra Tong.
Shekhar Suryawanshi will serve as the convenor of the competition.
